Final Year Project
Though the due date is still a week away, I’m feeling much of the heat right now. I have been really busy for the last two weeks. I still have other subjects, you know. All the midterms, quizzes and assignments are enough to bench press me till I suffocate. What’s more, there is still the Final Year Project to settle.
Good thing my supervisor is not cross with me being away for about 2 weeks. I was really busy studying other subjects. Now that it’s all over, I can get my focus back on the FYP again.
My FYP consists of two main parts; Research and Implementation. I did the research part last trimester, and this trimester I have to concentrate on implementing my research. At first I didn’t really understand what did implementation mean. When I found out it was to write a program I was a bit hesitant at first, because I can never be confident with my programming skills. But soon enough I learned enough about MATLAB to get me started.
MATLAB? Yes. MATLAB. You must be thinking what freakish FYP I’m undertaking. Actually it’s not an alien topic at all. Image Processing is very common nowadays. Do you know that when you load up Photoshop to modify images, you are basically doing processing on an image. If you look at it from a programmer point of view, an image is just a huge matrix with elements making up the value of intensity of colors. The elements of the matrices are what we commonly call pixels.
I must finish my project by the end of the week. Though the due date is on Thursday, I reckon it might be sensible to complete the project a bit early in case of last minute complications. But then there’s this MMU Masters Open (Badminton) that I really, really want to watch.
Must. Manage. Time.
