I started out with Nuffnang about a year ago. The experience was good, as I managed to earn some money from it. I used to have several websites running ads simultaneously, and each of those websites fulfilled the requirement of getting at least 20 uniques per day. Nuffnang managed to get me some weekly campaigns to run on my blogs, and in no time I accumulated enough for the payout.
What’s happening now is a huge contrast to the past.
My weekly analytics exceeded a thousand visitors, yet I still don’t receive any ads. I haven’t seen a campaign in this blog for months now. If I am not mistaken, I haven’t seen any Nuffnang ads in this blog before, that’s discounting all the useless CPC ads that no one bothers to look. I have a small amount of RM36 stuck with Nuffnang because the payout level is at RM50. That means I have no chance of getting my RM36 unless I hit RM50, but to hit RM50 I need to run ads.
And I thought being a Gliterrati member will bring 20% to 50% more income. Well technically they are right, because 20% to 50% of 0 is still 0!
What’s up with Nuffnang? Are they running out of campaigns to run? Is Nuffnang losing grip on being Malaysia’s best local advertising medium? Are their customers losing faith in them for not delivering the goods? Are they practicing bias? Are they giving ads to only close friends who know Timothy Tiah in person? I don’t know.
Heck, I have Adsense in only single pages and Nuffnang omnipresent in the entire blog, but Adsense returns much more than Nuffnang.
I don’t want to pointing fingers but, if Nuffnang doesn’t give me ads soon I’m removing all Nuffnang ads from my blog. It’s just not worthed it giving Nuffnang the free publicity and not receiving any ads in return.
And don’t get me started on Advertlets as well.

The Indian housemate did it again. This time he didn’t change his decisions, but still he managed to infuriate me again. Is this is how all Indians act or is this his problem?
I have heard stories about Indians being cocky and chauvinists, but I still refuse to think that the whole Indian community thinks like that. I’m sure it’s the same with every race, where there’s nice people among some of the most annoying people ever.
But somehow, most of the Indian people I have met are always talking to people like they are superior than anybody else. Not only that, they always seem to keep showing that air of superiority to the people they are talking to. It’s like they will suffocate and choke to death if not for that display of pride.
Today that Indian housemate decided to do something out of the ordinary and tried to slam it on my face probably just to fish a few words of praise. He could also want me to hold him in high regards because he thinks he is great. He was already as annoying as hell and today he wants to cross the line some more.
To be fair, what he did was constructive He cleaned the porch. He swept it so clean as if he bent down to pick up all the tiny little dust specks on the ground and disposed them outside. Even Jo expressed her surprise and thought she came into the wrong house. The Indian fellow even pulled out the plants that crept through the gates. I didn’t want the plants to be pulled out because they sort of held the gate in place when the wind was strong. We never close our gates.
So yeah, if you want to clean the house, or do some chores, you can just do it and shut up, right? Would you do the chores out of the blue, especially at this time when everybody is busy with examinations, and then shove it in your housemates’ faces?
That’s what he did. I was busy with my own stuff in my room, and he called me out. I thought he had anything important to say, but when I stepped out the only words from him was “Yo, how’s the house?”. I feigned ignorance and answered “What how?”. That was to give him some opportunity to step down before me labeling him as the most annoying Indian I’ve ever met for the life of me.
He smiled and asked “You never go out, ah?” in a very arrogant tone. What, now I’m a closet freak who stays at home all the time? People have to study, and where else to study other than home? I showed him an expressionless face (that can be so, so cold) and asked “What? You mean the porch is it?”. He grinned, like a 10 year old kid reaping praises for scoring A in his spelling test, or collecting angpows at the stroke of midnight during the first day of Chinese New Year.
I said “Yeah, it looks clean” and then asked if there was anything else. He waved his right hand and said “No lah” I went back to my room and locked it shut. So, it was proven that he called me out just to show off. It wasn’t the porch that pissed me off, it was the act of showing it off. I knew it was him who washed the porch, but showing it off crossed the line a couple of times.

Few days ago I was at Carrefour wanting to get some juice for Jo and this man in his 20’s came to me and smeared some Dempo Snow cream on my hand. Still in shock, I asked what did he apply on me. The man, in his weird Indonesian accent, said it’s a cream made from sengkuang (turnip?), and it’s good for whitening the skin and removing weird marks.
This idiot man applied the cream on my forearms, and kept promoting his product non-stop. I wasn’t even given a chance to talk. Then he pulled me into his stall and revealed a table full of bottles filled with the aforementioned white cream. My bet is that he never got to sell any cream that day.
He rubbed the cream off my forearms and said the cream is good for removing dead skin from … the skin. I was unimpressed by his way of persuasion, and wanted to leave. But he held on to my hand and pointed at my face and neck, saying there are rashes there that can be healed by this turnip cream.
And then he did the impossible.
That retard applied the cream on my face WITHOUT ASKING! He didn’t even bothered to check if I really wanted to try out his product or not. All I wanted was to finish the pack of waffles I was holding and his attempt at promoting his product was really wasting my time.
I told him to remove the cream immediately, but he said to leave it for a minute to see the difference. He was still hell bent on showing me the results. Fine. A minute later I removed the cream with some tissue paper and he instantly hurled a mirror at my face. I don’t see any freaking difference at all!
He later tried to cut a deal with me. A bottle costs RM25 and he’s selling it for RM15. Then he goes to say buy 3 bottles at RM45 and he will give me an extra bottle. I said no, and then he tried to bargain (with himself, really, LOL) and offered me RM10 per bottle.
Anyway I think it should be okay, because I’ve seen people selling this in lots of shopping complexes, so it’s not some Indonesian curse/voodoo cream or something. But his method was oh so wrong! How could you just pull people to one side and smear their faces with some cream! I didn’t even agree to sample his product!
In the end I left his stall and minutes later walked past his stall without stopping as an indication that I have absolutely no interest in his product.

In wake of the Malaysian Health Minister’s scandal, I felt sad that politicians are exposing one’s private life as means of sabotage. I know the General Elections are near (and the alternative front is gaining more support than ever), but don’t you think such a scandal will ruin one’s reputation so bad that people will remember him for it? What do you remember most significantly about Bill Clinton? His case with Monica Lewinsky rocked the world like he was some rock star celebrity. Come on, sex scandals are so 1999!
True, he shouldn’t have done what he did but come to think of it, if he is doing a good job as Health Minister then by all means he should be our Health Minister for as long as possible. I don’t care about his personal life. Let him live his life the way he wants in return that he do his job dutifully. I much rather let a sinner be our Health Minister, than let a ‘hollier than thou’ character screwing up.
The CSL resignation was shocking, due to the fact that he confessed but announced that he won’t be leaving the post. Maybe it will be better to drop right out of the public eye and dip into low profile for some period of time. Hopefully, soon enough, people will remember him as the Health Minister who improved many policies within the Health Ministry and a politician who speaks and leads better than most, if not all in the government.
But I think he shouldn’t have resigned. Ministers are getting away with pretty much anything right now. What happened to the Altantuya case? What happened to the billions that were squandered on incomplete projects? If that’s not enough, how about dozing off at local and international meetings? If these ministers are not dealt with appropriately, then why is CSL carrying all the burden on his shoulders just because his video was exposed? If it was up to me, then CSL wouldn’t have to resign. An apology is good enough. After all, a person who apologizes and admits his mistake is far better than one who denies and make up facts to cover up for himself.
In addition, I felt disgusted that hotel rooms are no longer safe. As The Star reported, Wireless spy camera costs as little as RM300. Anyone could get their hands on a camera and install it almost anywhere! It could be in your car, your bedroom or even your bathroom. I think this calls for extensive security measures to be taken to keep hotel rooms safe for tourists to stay in. It’s making a bad name for the country. I wonder if someone could come up with gadgets to disrupt the wireless communication between the spy camera and its controller, or has it been implemented already? Engineering students, this could be a potential Final Year Project topic for you guys!
Oh, just to make this clear. I’m no supporter of any political party, just the average guy voicing out. I have no interest in exercising my rights as a voter, and I think it will hard to convince me that spending half a day to queue up just to put in a vote. I think I would rather spend that whole day resting and keeping myself occupied for more beneficial activities. Barisan Nasional’s gonna get the 2/3 majority, anyway. It’s just a matter of how large the scale of victory. I certainly don’t want them to win by a landslide though. There should be alternative parties to keep them on their toes.
I must be on medication to post a picture of a teacher with a blackboard in the beginning of the post. There is a reason for that. I post regularly in small scale forums, and this subject is still widely discussed in those forums this very day. I read about different views supporting and disagreeing with the resignation and the mutual condemnation of the recording. So I decided to come up with something creative, because I’m weird like that.
A teacher walked into class and points to the blackboard, then asked the students. “What do you see?”
The students replied “A blackboard.”
The teacher drew a small dot on the blackboard. Then she said to the class “Tell me what you see now.”
Seeing the white spot on the blackboard, the class answered “A WHITE SPOT!”
The teacher shook her head and said “I still see a blackboard. A big blackboard with just one small insignificant spot of chalk on it. Why do you only see the white spot? Is one white spot going to change your opinion on what you see?”
This story tells us that we sometimes don’t have a clear view of things, resulting in a misinterpretation or a misunderstanding of the object we’re trying to look at. The big blackboard could be attributed to CSL’s achievements in politics, and the white spot signifies the scandal. People only see the white spot right now, but hopefully in the future they will just look at the big picture instead of remembering him for that white spot.
